    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the Spring Week, it is definitely worth doing even if you do not know yet whether you want to work in banking, or just want general business experience. It was really well organised when we were there, a mixture of presentations, Q&A sessions, job shadowing and working in groups to practice our presentation and team working skills.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt RBS really valued us as interns, not only the Early Careers team who organise the programme but also the employees in each area that we shadowed.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • On the internship you get out as much as you put in. The help is there if you need it, but it is a great time to increase your independence and think for yourself rather than being instructed of what to do.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This is a perfect opportunity to network with people your own age in a fairly informal setting, as well as with recent graduates and managers you meet throughout the week. On Monday we had a presentation skills workshop where we got to practice straight after, which prepared us well for our assessed presentation later in the week. This is something all of us can take forward in our studies and working life.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Really well structured- it alternated between longer and shorter days, with a mix of relevant presentations, opportunities to ask questions, shadowing, presenting, and informal chatting over lunch/drinks with other interns and graduates.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I expected the atmosphere to be more competitive than it was, but everyone I have met has been friendly and interested in getting to know one another. Its been very open in terms of getting our input from what we want out of it, and being able to ask questions without feeling awkward. Overall, really great atmosphere

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot! See previous answers for details

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Well, however only in certain areas as time is limited so you cant see everything within each functions due to logistics.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I am still unsure of what I want to do, however now I am informed so I can make a better decision about my future.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • This was very generous: included flights, meal allowance, hotel and buses.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Good, many gaps between sessions to chat to people, drinks planned on Monday & Friday. The rest was informal between everyone staying at the hotel.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, over lunch on the first day we had some employee networks come in.
