  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Enjoyed it very much, had the opportunity to learn much more about some of the functions of the business and guidance with applications regarding the summer internship and graduate scheme. I was able to make friends with similar interests to mine which made the experience even better.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Employees at RBS were incredibly supportive throughout the process, which did make me feel like I was part of the company. They ensured that I was given sufficient opportunites the make the most of my experience.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • A huge amount. With regards to assessments, the recruitment team were very helpful in making sure what the plan was and what they expected from us. Employees were always on hand to assist us with any difficulties.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My experience allows me to make a more informed decision as to where I want my degree to take me; I believe this is the most important point. Soft and technical skills were improved during the week and I think this will help me succeed when it comes to interviews etc.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well. It involved presentations on the company and different divisions. There were rounds of job shadowing too which allowed you to experience what the specific division role entailed. Assessment days were also well structed to provide us with the best possible chance to impress.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a very friendly tone about RBS. People were willing to help, there was a sense that they genuinely wanted to engage with our discussions and give us the right advice.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • RBS made us showcase our soft skills, which are vital in the finance industry. The firm invested a huge amount in making sure these were developed. Professional insight through job shadowing and presentations led to our technical development.

  • The job shadowing provided a great idea as to what their role entailed and how individuals' days were structed on a day to day basis.

  • The company's core values were always referred back to when taking about business matters. The culture states a great importance on customers.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable. Shadowing different divisions gave me to chance to decide what I didn't find interesting and what I did. Differentiating this is probably the most important experience.

  • RBS were incredibly helpful when it came to reimbursement.

  • Yes, they were part of the insight week structure. Plenty of opportunities were available.

  • Very good. They gave me the chance to learn more about the industry and people's experiences, which are relevant in the recruitment process.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, part of some of the presentations given included this. We also had the chance to ask employees what they were involved in which was good.

  • Definitely. It gives people the chance to learn about the industry and gives them a better perspective as to whether this is the right industry for them.
