About You
Insight was very well run from beginning to end. Barclays treated the entire experience as an educational one and had case studies and speakers from the Bank throughout the program. I learned much more than I thought I would (came in with some background knowledge of Investment Banking) and met some great people along the way.
We were always treated well by the insight organizers and were made to feel like we were importat to the future of Barclays. Every employee I met was enthusiastic about the program and wanted to help me further broaden my knowledge and skills.
The organizers were always available to answer any question you had, you were also made to feel like asking for clarification wouldn't jeopardize your chance of getting an interview post-insight week. Event organizers also supported you by placing you in divisions you were interested in.
I now know specifically what division I want to work for and what desk is think id be the happiest at. I also became more confident at meeting new people and striking up friendships in a professional environment.
The Company
Every day was scheduled very well. We occasionally asked too many questions which led us to run out of time on case studies, but this only really happened once and didn't impact the overall structure of the insight week.
Incredibly positive. Everyone was smart, funny, and easy to get along with. Atmosphere was very inspiring.
Very heavily, I was placed in a division and desk that I requested and the employees there went to great lengths to give me important knowledge into their product and educate me about the business.
Now know exactly what I want to do, down to the product id like to deal with.
We received so much exposure to people from throughout the Bank. Everyone was friendly and easy to talk to. Amazing culture throughout.
Now know exactly what to do. Only had a rough idea before starting.
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed, also received £250 stipend. Accommodation was paid for. Had a 2 bedroom flat I shared with another intern.
The were a few mini-speed-networking sessions and one big, 3 hour networking event. Shadowing was a fantastic opportunity to network as well.

One employee mentioned Barclays would match any contribution made towards a charity he was running a marathon for.
Yes, fantastic experience. Would recommend to anyone especially those who aren't sure what area of the bank they want to work in.
