About You
Enjoyed it a lot. Gained a good insight into the different parts Barclays and what parts I see myself working and interning in. The interactive case study for PCB was the highlight for me.
The business reps were very good at making everyone feel heard and valued. They were very interested in our thoughts on the tasks at hand and our particular interests in banking, even if it wasn't in their particular division.
There was support during the work shadowing, not much support on the other days. It was very much an opportunity for you to pick up skills yourself.
I believe it will help me a great deal. I developed skills in giving presentations, debating, research and communication.
The Company
A detailed schedule was provided on day one. Although I would've preferred to now what work shadowing I was doing the evening before so I could prepare questions, this wasn't too much of a problem.
Collaborative, there was a focus on teamwork in the interactive sessions. The business reps were very understanding and were more than happy to explain their work and experience in the summer internship.
I felt they did this well, especially in the interactive sessions.
This was particularly good. The work shadowing was very immersive. The business reps were happy to share their work and answer any questions we had.
I think understanding the culture of any company this size would be pretty difficult to do in only a week. But for the time allocated I believe I got a good view of the culture.
Very helpful, I now have narrowed down what part of Barclays I'd work for and know people who'd help me with further information.
Everything Else
Reimbursed for expenses.
Yes, at the networking event and the whole way through in the smaller tasks.
Very well, although it would've been good to have a more diverse range of business reps at the networking event.
Yes, they were happy to share their hobbies and how Barclays helps them with that. e.g. Premier League tickets.
Yes, I definitely would.
