About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight, leading a lot of information on the structure of Investment Banking in a quick space of time.
I felt extremely valued as each member of the Insight programme was give the same opportunity to impress. Exposure to senior members of the bank shows the importance of feeling valued at Barclays.
Whenever needed, help was always offered by the Business reps.
It certainly acts as a motivation to succeed in academic studies, and skills such as hard work and concentration will be important.
The Company
Very well structured. Everything was very detailed in terms of what task would be done at which time of the day, but a sufficient time was also allocated to questioning and answering.
There was a good rapport between all the spring interns, and also with the senior members of Barclays.
We had access to the very best resources to support us in our tasks. Anything that we needed in terms of training was offered.
I believe the situations we were put in demonstrated what the roles would be like in real life, so it has helped to prepare us should we be successful.
There was a massive emphasis put onto values at Barclays, and this was reemphasised by the staff, who all use the 5 sustainable values on a daily basis.
The content part of the spring week was extremely high, and I will go away with a firm knowledge of what career path I want to go into.
Everything Else
I was paid for the week at Barclays, and there was an offer to reimburse travel expenses if needed.
Yes, we had constant exposure to a wide variety of Barclays workers, and attending a networking evening to discuss our future plans with senior management.
Very informative, as you could decide which workers to spend time with, for example if they worked in the area you were interested in.
It was something we discussed during the work shadowing, with workers talking about how often they will socialise with the members of their team.
Certainly, it is hard work but very rewarding at the end of the week.
