Spring Insight Review

It was really useful because we got to attend presentations that introduced the different areas, i.e. investment banking, markets, PCB and barclayscard. We also many opportunities to network with employees from the different business areas. It was good that I managed to better understand what differentiated the different areas, and it will help me make a more informed decision when I think about the career I want to pursue.

Everyone was really friendly and patient in explaining what the different areas were like. We got to learn what the different jobs entailed and we could see how different areas might fit into our personal strengths. We were always encouraged to ask questions. If we were unsure about anything, we could just ask and they would be very keen on helping us better understand Barclays and its business.

Campus recruitment was really helpful in answering any questions we had about the recruitment process and on one of the days they ran a panel where we could ask any questions about how fast-tracking, interviews and the process worked. The other employees we interacted with were always willing to explain to us anything we were not sure of.

The information we received was mainly about the culture of Barclays, what distinguished Barclays, the different areas of the bank and what the different jobs entailed. This has been very useful in helping me think about what kind of career I want to pursue after I graduate from university. There was also a presentation skills workshop that was useful in reminding us of the key areas that we need to take note of when giving a presentation.

For the first three days we attended presentations by the different areas of the bank. On the last 2 days, we were able to shadow employees in the morning for 3 hours. The schedule was well-planned and ensured that we were able to find out as much about Barclays as possible.

Everyone was really friendly. We were able to speak to many people across the business and they were always excited to talk to us about what they do or their opinions of trends in the industry.

We had a presentation skills sessions which helped us identify our weaknesses in presenting and improve.

Talking to different people across the firm helped me better understand the demands of a full time role.

On the first day they introduced to us what Barclays does and the history of Barclays. There was also a lot of talk about the values that Barclays have, and we did an activity where we wrote down how we would demonstrate Barclay's values during the week.

Content-wise it was definitely very relevant and helpful. There were several networking opportunities which allowed us to speak to a variety of people with different perspectives and were at different stages of their career. This helped give me a bigger picture of what I should expect if I were to have a career in Barclays.

We will be paid for travel expenses to and from London if you live outside London. There will also be an allowance given upon completion of the programme.

We had a networking evening which was very helpful. The two shadowing opportunities also allowed us to meet employees in the areas we shadowed in.

During the networking evening employees across the different areas in front office were represented which was very useful. The employees were also represented across different stages of their careers.

There was something about how there was a day where you get to wear the jersey of the sports team you support. Other than that, not really.
