The Role
Great overall experience. Met many new people and learnt very valuable skills
My colleagues recognised my hard work. I was given the responsibility of training up a colleague in an assay format.
Someone is generally always around to tell me what to do and provide me help.
Scientific research tends to vary
I was responsible for running all my experiments
Very useful to know how to interact with others in such a large company
The Company
Sometimes rather quiet, but lets you concentrate on your work
GSK underwent alot of reorganisation so sometimes hard to work around having to move labs, seeing people get made redundant, last minute meetings etc.
Very good training
Flexi Time
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Unsure about the future of GSK R&D as it has been, and maybe still is making employees redundant.
The Culture
Other students were great, was like being at university but in a different setting
Not bad for living down south. There were plenty of places with good offers.
Not many places but you made the most of what you got
Need to use your initiative to find places and travel out of Stevenage.
