About You
I enjoyed finding out about the different areas and some interaction sessions were fun. However, the week was very intense and definitely felt a lot of pressure at some points to perform beyond what I was capable of
We were constantly valued by the recruitment team and they all helped up and wanted us to succeed. I felt this also with all the speakers we had. Everyone respected us and wanted to take time to enlighten us which was really welcoming
The support was good and I felt comfortable asking for extra help if I needed it. In some activities I felt like I need more help with technical understanding especially when I was expected to present findings. But generally the program was really well structured
This week has been a huge insight into the industry which I didn't know anything about before hand. I've been exposed to pressuring situations and met people from all across Barclays. This exposure will be second to none in my personal development later in my degree. I feel I will need to do a lot more studying to completely understand things but his week has definitely laid the groundwork to where I need to focus
The Company
Really good. The timetable was so helpful. I did feel like the start of the week was very intense compared to the end
The atmosphere was positive from recruitment but sometimes I felt there was an uncomfortable environment between the interns as people tried to express a competitive edge. There was times when I struggled and felt inferior to others but then there were also times where talking to those who knew more really helped me and I was impressed by their knowledge. Generally he atmosphere was relaxed and I felt very comfortable
As a group we were able to develop skills but it was not possible so much on an individual level. They'd gave us alarms knowledge base to build on
Very well. Work shadowing was so important for this. Until you experience a day in the life of your role you can't comprehend what it involves. This was the most valuable and enjoyable part of the week in my opinion
Barclays culture was made really clear every day and I have such a good idea of the culture after this week
Due to information overload it's also compacted the Decison for me but it will all be a huge help in my ultimate decison. The week has given me so much to think about that I never would have considered. This week will be a key driver in my ultimate choice
Everything Else
Really happy about this service and made the experience possible for me
Yeah there was a networking event which was great fun and work shadowing was a key opportunity to meet employees
Fun, relaxed and such a good opportunity. The people at the events were friendly and wanted to answer questions we had. They were down to earth and many were happy to take our contact details or give theirs out in return if we expressed an interest
Nope I didn't. I heard about client meetings and celebrations after a successful m&a but not specially about Barclays recreational culture. This would have be nice to know
Definately if they have a passion to go into banking. If they are unsure I wouldn't advise it. The week has been full on and I feel like unless you have a real drive to go into banking a less intense program will be better.
