The Role
I was surprised by the relaxed atmosphere that was found in my research group. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful
I recieved praise on a regular basis from several members of the group for my hard work
My supervisor could not have been more helpful! If she was unavailable everyone else in the lab would gladly help me with any problems I was having.
There was no presure to work extra hours. We were allowed to decide how much work we would put in during a day.
I was fairly quickly allowed to carry out reactions at my own pace and given new targets when I had finished the current set of compounds.
I feel that I have learned more in my one year at GSK than I did in my previous 3 years at university
The Company
Everyone was extremely friendly in my group. There was a good mix of full-time employees and placement students which led to a good, fun atmosphere
I always had something to do from day 1. Whether that was training or work, I was never left sitting around doing nothing.
Sent the students on a 3 day training course in Bristol. My supervisor spent a lot of time making sure I was confident in carrying out any chemitry
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I was under the impression that the company would be relucatant to hire graduates. I think they are now more interested in hiring people with at least a PhD.
The Culture
We regularly went out for staff meals and drinks in both Stevenage and London
I was £245 per month which is much cheaper than what I am paying for my current accomodation.
Stevenage didnt have an awful lot to offer but London was easily accessible by train.
Regularly went to the gym after work and had plenty time to meet up with friends outside work.
