The Role
I didnt want to leave! I loved the work but i also loved the people i worked with which made the day go much faster!
I felt very much part of my time and all my group members were very welcoming. We still keep in contact now.
my supervisor and manager were always around to help me. My supervisor gave me alot of training and guidance when i first started which allowed me to then feel confident to work more independently once i knew the techniques.
I always had experiments to run which is what i liked and if i didnt i would always ask what i could do.
I was treated like a scientist and therefore was involved in planning my experiments and ran them independently. Every week we all fed back data to each other and planned subsequent experiments.
They have given me lots of experience which will improve my CV. The technical skills i learnt make me more employable. It also improved my presentation skills and gave me an insight into what working in a corporate company is like
The Company
The office went through mixes of quiet and talking. There was a good balance which allowed you to do work when you needed but also have fun. The lab in general was a more sociable place.
I didnt have any problems everything was sorted for me. I was given injections as soon as i started, we were helped with accomodation if it was needed and they arranged a day before we started for us to meet other students which made the first day much less intimidating!
They invested alot of time in training me up. There was no need for external training.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
It depends on financial situations when i graduate but i have been told if there was a job to offer i would have one!
The Culture
Alot of students socialised on the weekend i lived at home but still socialised with other students alot
I lived at home so cost of living was very little for me. The salary we get is enough to have a good social life and save if you want to!
Average, but good transport links to london and cambridge
Lots of gym classes and festive games were held. Also social events within the office in the evening and lots of pub lunches!
