About You
Thoroughly enjoyed the whole week, such a great insight into Barclays and their values. Would definitely recommend doing it.
Barclays really make you feel involved during the week and value your questions and inputs during spotlight session and networking events
The whole week is based around guidance about Barclays and the different divisions available to join within business functions. The week has helped me decide which area I want to go into
Not sure that the skills will help me in my degree - maths and stats - but the skills will definitely help me for interviews and working life after university and during internships. The information has been extremely useful and has helped me decide the sector I wish to continue a career in
The Company
Extremely well structured - the spring week has been running for years and the employees who organise the week have got it perfected!
Absolutely lovely atmosphere from day 1. With only 19 people on my business functions spring week, I felt as if I knew everyone well by the end of the first day. Very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
Lots of MDs, directors and graduates gave up their time to give us advice and let us ask them questions that we had.
There were 3 work shadowing sessions whilst others gained a really good insight into the daily work employees do; however mine were unprepared and none of them actually took me to their desk to show me what they do.
This is one of the main focuses of the week and you get to enjoy the culture and learn the importance of the values throughout the week
Lots of spotlight sessions for each function with a case study to get an insight into the sort of work each function does. This allowed me to decide that treasury is my preferred area.
Everything Else
Paid £250 at the end of the week and reimbursed travel expenses
We met approx 100 employees throughout the week with a networking evening from 6-8pm on Wednesday night and many other panel sessions to network
Very enjoyable but wasn't able to speak to everyone at the networking evening because there was so many!
At the end of the day when we went outside the bars were around Canary wharf were very full so many employees seem to go for an informal drink and chat after work
Would definitely recommend this spring week as it sounds like a much more relaxed and enjoyable week than other banking firms.
