About You
A great extent. The entire program was structured to provide the greatest possible exposure to the firm in a relaxed and enjoyable manner. Everybody was enthusiastic and willing to share their experiences in the bank and how they got to their position. I would highly recommend to everyone who is interested in banking but remains unsure as to what exactly a bank as global as Barclays does.
We were treated exceptionally well. From start to finish, no matter how senior an employee, we were treated with respect and enthusiasm. The bank is very much focused and recruiting and developing talent, and they treat those who make it onto the spring week program as potential valuable employees and 'the future of the bank'.
Plenty. HR were always on hand to help with any worries, and were very accommodating for all issues. The structure was impeccable and at no point did everyone feel that they weren't sure what they were supposed to do.
The skills developed are focused on group work and presenting/research skills. While these are similar to skills you may have developed during studies, it doesn't compare to presenting on a professional level.
The Company
As before, very well.
Friendly, relaxed but professional. It very much demonstrated that the barclays values are not just a marketing technique but a fundamental part of the business.
Greatly. The cost of this event for Barclays was exorbitant. All expenses were covered, all were given a £250 expenses budget, anyone not living nearby was given premium accommodation in centre of Canary Wharf etc.
We saw every aspect of business (within reasonable time constraints).
Very much so. As before, the values are very much a part of the business.
Very. banking is complex and this went some way towards explaining what it entails.
Everything Else
I was paid and reimbursed (£250)
about 5. Organised events and work shadowing.
Great.
Yes. Sport and socials are common.
Absolutely
