About You
Hugely, the insight was comprehensive in what it offered. We attended spotlight sessions on each business function: risk, operations, treasury, technology, compliance, and finance. I found I lost my cynicism regarding Barclays and their values, they form an integral part of the business, which was brilliant for me to be a part of.
Very, Spring Interns are very well catered for and treated very well and never treated like a burden, but an asset.
We received guidance when it was appropriate but it never felt like we were being ordered or overshadowed or treated like children.
Some of the information I learnt is directly applicable to my degree, but more importantly we saw who these skills are utilised in the workplace
The Company
The insight was very structured, there wasn't a moment when I was unoccupied. It was tiring but it was never uncomfortably so.
Excellent, the staff were as I expected (friendly, approachable and professional) whilst my fellow interns were incredibly nice and sociable, we "networked" at local restaurant and bars almost every evening. Whilst work shadowing we were well received and were even giving the opportunity to contribute to their work.
Given the time was limited, a monumental amount of personal development invested, from personal feedback from senior personnel to spotlight sessions with VERY senior personnel all designed to build up our understanding and confidence.
Hugely, the combination of spotlight sessions and work shadowing were invaluable.
What I saw pleased me immensely (I'm big into my morals) so I was pleased to see them as a central point.
I was already set on a career in risk, but it did help highlight new options where I could work in risk.
Everything Else
I was paid and reimbursed for travel.
There was ample opportunity to network with 3 dedicated sessions as well as the whole week to network informally
The forced networking is useful for those who struggle to find an approach to networking but the informal sessions were far more interesting.
yes, it was a recurring question, asked to grad interns, and full time members of staff who all said there are many activities available, you just need to seize the opportunity
Definitely
