    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight programme. It really was an amazing opportunity to get an insight into KPMG. When first applying i didn't even know what KPMG really did but after the first day i understood clearly all its branches, what they do and how the company works. We had great speeches of how people got to where they were and it really motivated me. We learnt many valuable skills throughout the two days and had great fun working as a team creating a presentation. All the KPMG staff were really helpful and supportive throughout the insight and i am really glad i had the opportunity to take part in the insight programme.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We were given help and support throughout all the stages. During the first day we were given loads of information on the company itself and supported throughout the day during the activities and skills sessions. On the second day we also had a lot of support during the research and team work sessions. Every team had someone helping them and supporting them answering all their questions. I truly learnt a lot about KPMG, consulting and finance i previously didn't know.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During the skills session we were taught valuable skills we could use in our future careers. These included some basic skills like how to introduce yourself correctly to a client as well as more important skills needed when working in a company like KPMG, like compromising and consulting skills. We also had opportunities to improve our business awareness skills as well as presentation, team work and research skills. All the skills were fun to learn as well as helpful for out future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • the Insight was well structured. The first day was mainly feeding us information of the company, skills etc. Although it was very information packed it was very useful as when arriving at KPMG i hardly new what it was but after the session i fully understood all its branches of work within the company and what it does. The second day was more active with us doing group work and presenting. All was well organised. we were given breaks in-between the talks and activities to give us a chance to get a drink, refresh etc.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was great. Everyone was friendly and as everyone was on the same boat as you, you're not the only one who doesn't know anyone. It was a great opportunity to meet new people and make good friends and contacts. We had networking opportunities meeting new people and everyone was welcoming and helpful answering even the dumbest questions.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They taught us very valuable skills needed when working in a company like KPMG. We learnt things like who to introduce ourselves to clients, how to make a pitch, research skills, business awareness skills, team work skills and much more. I have gained many valuable skills which would really help if i was to work in KPMG or anywhere else. They also gave talk about each section in the company and although i previously never considered working in KPMG they made it seem really appealing and honestly made me want to work there.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The business game was a great insight into how it would be to work their as we had to work in groups with a case and pitch for our clients which were the panel of judges. It was really hard doing all the research and coming up with solutions but it really made us think hard and with support with the staff we really got to see how we should think and what we would have to do if we worked at KPMG. Although it was challenging it showed us exactly what we would have to do and i really enjoyed that.
