About You
The insight was lots of fun. We had good opportunities to network with peers. There was also a good mix of challenges to break ice and have some fun.
The company made clear that we had done well to get in to the spring week, and that they were very interested in us as interns. They made clear that interns were considered a valuable resource in the company as they provide fresh insight and possible solutions to problems.
We received good guidance, and felt able to ask questions the whole time. We had a good schedule in our handouts that we could follow for guidance.
We received good career advice from VPs, and honed some skills such as presentations. We also discussed Agile and other software development methodologies which will definitely be useful.
The Company
Overall the event was well structured - we had a good variety of interactive challenges and informative talks. Some areas were a little disorganised such as the Buddy work shadowing, where each of the buddies had a different idea of what they were meant to be doing.
Atmosphere was very positive - the mentors and speakers were friendly and relatable, and we didn't feel like we were being patronised like school kids.
We learnt about presentation techniques, agile and different aspects of the company. Although, the event was focussed more on informational talks rather than personal training.
Gave a good insight in to the variety of positions available within the company.
The serious talk on confidentiality and restrictions when mentioning the company on social networks gave us an idea of the corporate side, while talking with staff gave us an idea of the positive, relaxed environment in the office.
Caused me to consider a career in tech in finance which I had not previously strongly considered.

There were lots of opportunities to talk to a variety of people from the firm. One of my only criticisms would be that this was generally in a presentation-type environment, and it may have been useful for some of the presenters to stay for lunch or coffee with candidates in case anyone had questions.
There was just the right amount (2) of social events - not too many to feel overwhelmed or tired and not too few to never get to know anyone. The choice of social events was also nice.
We had a talk from a variety of interest groups within the company, and some of the recent graduates explained to us some of the social clubs they have set up or attend.
For friends even vaguely interested in a career in banking or finance, or for anyone who is interested in how a tech department in a bank works internally, I'd say it is a very worthwhile experience.
