About You
I enjoyed the insight week, learnt a lot about my chosen division and enjoyed networking with employees and interns.
N/A
There was some guidance for the exercises but they also required independent thought and taking initiative,
Throught the insight week, I have definitely become more confident presenting and networking, which will greatly aid me in my future career.
The Company
Very well structured and organised. Always knew when and where I needed to be.
Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Generally lively with a wide variety of activities/sessions.
The presentation skills talk was quite helpful for personal development, and the presentation exercises helped us put these skills into practice.
The insight was very revealing about what it would be like to work at BAML. Talking to employees was very helpful as they offered honest opinions and were happy to answer any questions about their day to day jobs.
The panel talks and networking gave a good impression of the company culture. Hearing why employees had chosen to work at this particular bank was very helpful.
I felt like I had gained enough insight into the Global Markets division to know that that was where I wanted to further explore my career.
Everything Else
I used my oyster card rather than buying a travel card so I did not apply to have my travel expenses reimbursed.
There were many opportunities to network each day of the insight week. You could also talk to employees from other divisions which weren't your first or second preference which was quite useful to gain an overview of the other divisons.
Networking/Social event opportunities were good as there were both formal environments (Such as the line of business fair) and laid back environments such as the networking dinner.
Yes there was a Corporate Responsibility talk which explained the many ways that employees can contribute to the community. There was also an employee network breakfast to explain how you can further get involved with the bank.
Definitely recommend to anyone who is considering working in an Investment Bank. It is one of the onyl ways to get first hand experience of what each division is like so you can form your own opinions and preferences, and is an excellent opportunity for networking.
