The Role
I really enjoyed this placment, I was considered as a full member of the team, and had a challenging mission.
Colleagues were very friendly, and as I am a foreigner they even had special attentions to me.
My manager had always time for me to explain what I needed. He was very encouraging, as was his n+1 who took time to review and comment my report. I also had 1 to 1 meetings with the head of the lab.
My supervisor always kept me busy, but is was not too much either.
Due to the high level of risks my work involved, I was given a lot of responsibilites but was always reporting to my supervisors.
I learnt unvaluable skills : corporate culture, team working, english language... And also lots of technical skills.
The Company
The atmosphere was very pleasant, friendly but not too much.
Very good organisation.
I received the usual training the employees get, plus some particular formations.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I think having done a placement with this company could help getting an interview, but it doesn't guarantee a job offer.
The Culture
We were at least 20 IP students in the same company, so the social scene was very good!
It was okay. The accomodation was not too expensive, if you shared a house, and there were a few pubs/clubs quite cheap.
Nightlife was rather poor. But we were living 30 mins from London.
You could go to the social club doing sport.
