About You
The insight was very enjoyable. Everything was taken care of and there was quite a lot of flexibility within the days that we were with PwC, It gave useful information and hints/tips for a career in finance and PwC.
I value it very much. I learnt things at PwC that I have not covered in school and it allowed me to see how my course could potentially relate to a career in banking and finance. Learning about the industry and PwC as an employer was also very useful.
There was a lot of guidance and support during the insight. There was always someone from the company close by who could sought any queries or answer any questions. Everyone was approachable and very friendly so you didn't think twice about asking them for support. The sessions gave a useful insight which provided a lot of guidance also.
The skills that we practiced were the generic employability skills such as communication, team work and presentation skills. With the information I received I was able to see the link between my course content and the workplace which was very useful. It demystified the finance sector and made it more relatable, benefiting my learning for when we cover topics relating to this,
The Company
The insight was extremely well structured. We were all given a schedule at the beginning which gave details about what we were doing, when and where. This was helpful as you were able to look forward to certain sessions and see if you need to do any preparation.
The general atmosphere was very light, relaxed and fun. The PwC staff reinforced that the insight was supposed to be fun, insightful and challenging.
There was quite a lot of highly ranked PwC workers at the insight which I felt was good as it showed that they were taking time out of their busy schedule to come and talk to us. The accommodation, travel and food was all taken care of which was much appreciated. The insight was very well planned and provided detailed and useful insight. I believe it was well thought out and the company were investing in our experience.
The insight was very helpful for us to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with PwC as they had representatives from all areas and different locations across the country. During the dinner we had a chance to talk with current employers, ask them questions and for them to tell us about their role in the company. Due to the fact that it was not held in a PwC office I think it was difficult to get a true feel of the company and locations but it was beneficial nonetheless.
The insight put a lot of emphasis on the company culture, its procedures and operations. The staff spoke a lot about the company as well as the work that they do and the areas of operation.
It was extremely helpful as they gave us an insight into all the different areas of PwC that we could join and how these relate to the wider finance industry. I was able to see how their operations relate to my degree and what areas I prefer.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses which included travel, hotel and food.
Yes, there were sessions ran by PwC employees during the daytime events. In the evening we had a dinner and rotating PwC employees which allowed us to ask questions to workers in different areas and their opinions of the company and their line of business,
The networking and social event opportunities were decent. We were only there for one night and there was a large dinner on this night. We had PwC employees who went to different tables during the dinner so we could meet lots of different people from different areas of the business. We also received tokens for drinks in the bar.
There was plenty of opportunities that employees could get involved in outside of work including travel and volunteering opportunities.
Yes, I would recommend this insight to a friend as it has been useful, enjoyable and beneficial to my future career.
