About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight days. I was able to gain valuable skills that I can use in the future. One day consisted of a business game challenge which allowed students to gain an insight into a real life scenario. We also got the chance to present to managing directors which although was nervy wracking, was also very rewarding, especially to gain feedback from them.
I feel highly valued during my time at KPMG. Although the first day consisted of presentations from different areas of the business, it was extremely informative and necessary. The second day I felt I was more valued as I was able to engage more.
The guidance and support that I received during the insight was fantastic. I was able to directly speak to managing directors and receive feedback and advice from them which I hope will be very useful in the near future. We were assigned an employee from KPMG to assist us with the business game which was very useful and encouraged us to think out of the box.
I have gained valuable skills from completing the numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning and situational judgement test which I had to complete before I was given the opportunity to go to the insight day. Furthermore, I have developed skills through KPMGs skill sessions that were run which gave us skills for the future in presenting and interviews. This will be beneficial when I go to apply for graduate jobs.
The Company
I found the insight day was very well structured with various emails being sent to us with full instructions about the insight day. When first arriving at KPMG I was instantly greeted by the head of recruitment and I felt very welcomed. There was no waiting around and the days ran very smoothly.
The general atmosphere throughout the two days was very welcoming and encouraging. I felt comfortable in the environment and it was a great way to identify what business area I wanted to excel in.
I have been offered a fast track telephone interview with KPMG so I feel the firm are wiling to invest in myself.
The insight day helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with KPMG as we participated in the business challenge game which involved a real life working scenario and we identified how we as a professional service firm would advise them on what we thought was the best approach.
The insight helped me understand the company culture and values and I hope to be able to discuss some of these when I have the telephone interview to really highlight to KPMG that I understand and match the company culture and values.
The content of the day was extremely useful and has taught me that I do in fact want to apply for a graduate scheme with KPMG and want to pursue a career within professional services and in particular management consulting.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed my travel expenses and lunch was provided for us on both days.
At the end of the first day, we were invited to networking drinks whereby we were able to meet other graduates and employees of the firm. This was a great opportunity to meet and ask questions to employees who had first hand experience.
The networking opportunity was highly valuable and allowed me to ask a variety of different questions not only about the company itself but also about the recruitment and application process which will be beneficial when I apply for a graduate scheme at KPMG.
Yes. There are a variety of different societies that you can get involved with at KPMG and these are extremely diverse.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend as it was extremely informative and I was able to gain a solid understanding of the company, its values and the application process.
