About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement and it was a perfect opportunity for me to get an Insight into the work that Savills do. I was fortunate enough to experience a number of different departments within Savills gaining an insight into the future career I may be embarking on.
I felt extremely valued on my placement and was given the opportunity to help out on real life projects which some of the graduates were undertaking. I was looked after very well, shown around the office and was taken out for lunch on my final day.
At each stage of the placement I was supported with sufficient guidance on what was expected of me. Any questions I had were answered and advice was given regarding my future career in property.
The placement helped me understand some of the things I had learnt in lectures a bit better. It also helped me develop my knowledge of how things are done within the property industry.
The Company
A brief timetable was sent to me before the placement started but was not stuck too and on some occasions I was unsure of what I was supposed to be doing. I think this could have been improved by providing a day by day timetable of what tasks I would be doing each day.
The atmosphere in the office was very professional and I felt that I fitted in well with this environment. everyone I met during the placement was very nice and very helpful when asking for advice.
The firm gave me an appraisal at the end of the placement, this helped me understand how I had performed during the placement and areas of improvement were provided.
I was able to gain a very good understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role with the firm and confirmed my vision of the company being the right employer for my future career.
I was able to find out a little bit of the culture from the employees but it was apparent that the company has a very respectable and professional culture.
It was very useful to me in gauging how the property industry works and confirmed that it is the right path I am currently pursuing.
Everything Else
I had to send my expenses off and I am awaiting to be reimbursed.
Yes there were, I was able to go out for drinks and lunch on a couple of occasions with some of the graduates working at the company.
On one occasion we went for lunch and drinks at a local restaurant, this was a good chance to develop a rapport with potential future colleagues.
I was told about a couple of activities that I would be able to partake in, these included a cycling and a running event.
I will be recommending the programme to fellow students as it is a good way to develop experience within the industry.
