About You
Very well organised, with a mixture of both seminars and workshops.
As valued as one could hope to be during a spring week. The HR staff and mentors were always happy to answer questions whenever they were fielded.
A fair amount: the structure of the course did well to build up experience as the week progressed.
Haven't had a chance, yet, to apply the skills learnt to my degree, however they certainly helped during the assessment day on the final day.
The Company
Very well structured, with sufficient time allocated for both lunch and general breaks.
The atmosphere was both friendly and competitive, but not malicious. Even at the assessment centre, people realised all could progress to the summer scheme, so there was a real sense of camaraderie.
The fact that the firm set up an assessment day on the last day of the week made me feel confident that they wanted to continue my development and have me as a member of the company.
Sitting on the rates desk for an afternoon gave me a good chance to gauge the firm's atmosphere as a whole and ask questions to current employees.
The firm was clearly keen to dismiss current difficulties with the regulators, however it seemed like a friendly enough place to work.
I was already fairly keen on a career in the markets: this experience only helped to cement that desire.
Everything Else
Those who needed to have expenses covered were reimbursed.
Plenty of networking opportunities, both individually and in groups.
A social event on the first day amongst the interns: beyond that, networking with current employees was fairly formal.
There was one presentation about extracurricular / charity activities the bank encourages: this was quite limited.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
