About You
The spring vacation scheme managed to strike great balance between offering substantive learning opportunities about the firm and the nature of a legal career, as well as being a socially enjoyable and altogether fun experience.
Despite only being with the firm for one week, I could tell the graduate recruitment team had gone through a lot of effort to make us feel valued: they week was well-structured and packed with activities, and the team was always there to provide any assistance necessary.
My trainee buddy and supervisor were always present to offer assistance or to answer any queries I had, and the graduate recruitment team was also always on hand to support us.
I caught a brief glimpse into life as a lawyer in my short time at the firm. Granted, a week is far to short to gain any deep insight, yet nonetheless I felt my supervisor had deliberately sought to provide me with as varied and broad an experience possible in the tasks that she issued. More importantly, I learnt a lot about life at Taylor Wessing: in terms of the firm's culture and atmosphere. This will certainly provide a positive benchmark to weigh my experiences at other firms.
The Company
The graduate recruitment team did a good job of structuring informative and varied activities, so as to give us a glimpse of all aspects of life at the firm.
Everyone was extremely friendly and eager to help; I never felt like I was on my own at any point during the internship.
It is clear that the graduate recruitment team put in a lot of effort in structuring the spring week. Despite the short length, I never felt like we were being taken for granted.
Again, the graduate recruitment team made the most of the short time they had in attempting to expose us to life at the firm. Ultimately, I feel I would have benefited from a longer attachment, but this is no fault of the firm. Time constraints are inevitable.
We had the opportunity to interact with people from various rungs of the firm in the many social events that were planned.
Good exposure to the day-to-day work of a law firm, also managed to get a lot of insight into a legal career by talking to various employees.
Everything Else
I was paid £250/wk
The firm planned various drinks/lunches/after-work events for networking.
Fantastic: we met partners, associates and trainees. We went bowling with the latter; it was an amazing night.
Everyone was eager to let us know more about the charities/pro-bono events events that the firm offers. Unfortunately, only 4 vac schemers had the opportunity to attend a pro-bono event. Ideally, it would have been nice if more got this chance.
Fantastic week: short but packed to the brim.
