About You
Overall a very interesting week with lots laid on for participants to get involved with and learn.
Felt valued, especially within rotations around markets, employees were very interested in us, and in ensuring we gained a strong understanding of their individual roles within the bank
As much as was needed, employees were available at many opportunities throughout the week to answer questions on their specific areas, the week was pretty much tailored (as you would hope/expect!) to ensuring we learnt the maximum amount we could about the bank in the short space of time available, enabling us to make an opinion as to furthering our involvement with RBS.
Lots of emphasis on public speaking and delivering presentations which is a matter or practice and learning that it is not as hard or nerve wracking as it is made out to be. The week offered the opportunity to build on out presentation skills and I definitely feel that the extra practice with giving presentations to audiences has strengthened my skills. I have a presentation coming up at university and I will definitely be using what I learnt and feeling all the more confident because of it.
The Company
Very good structure, arguably the most important part was the 2 days spent shadowing and these worked very well. Being allocated areas within markets was good as it forced us to shadow in areas we might not have otherwise chosen, and this is definitely a good thing in hindsight as what I thought I wanted to do within markets has now changed!
Fun, it was quite an exciting experience being put up in London and meeting a whole raft of new people, lots of opportunity for socialising. During the actual insight itself everyone was eager to impress and learn as much as possible, which was interesting.
Big emphasis put on presentation skills, a lot of opportunity to lean and build on these skills
Lots of opportunity for shadowing allowed a lot of exposure to different areas within the bank leading to a greater appreciation of what different roles entail.
Meeting various employees allowed an insight into the general culture at RBS, which definitely had an emphasis on support and learning.
Very valuable, went in with a broad idea of what i wanted to do, and came out with a specific area I am interested in, which I had not previously considered.
