About You
Enjoyed the week greatly. Great opportunity to get a good general overview of how the functions part of the bank operates
Everyone was very friendly and helpful and answered any questions we had. We were encouraged to ask questions even if we thought they were silly and people were very interested in me, what I did and why I was there and endeavored to give me everything I was looking for during my time there
We were given contact info for various people should we have an issue throughout the week and everyone was very helpful with anything we needed or wanted to know
Personally it will not help me so much with my degree as my degree is completely unrelated to the placement. However many of the skills I learnt and the confidence I gained will be very useful looking for a job after my studies
The Company
Very well structures. We were given an itinerary for the week at the beginning that was nicely divided up with two days spent shadowing 4 different areas
Really friendly, everyone wanted to help and talk to us and were really interested in why we were there. The atmosphere in all the RBS buildings was really friendly and calm
We were given a few seminars on things such as presentation skills and basic economics. Although I would say that once you've seen one presentation on presentation skills, you've seen them all and it wasn't anything special
To a great extent, all the staff told us what it was like to work at RBS, the extra things you can get involved with and the general work ethic that people follow there
Very well, it is clear that it is about quality at RBS. People start work at a reasonable time in the morning and usually leave at 5 on the dot. Their dedication to impeccable customer service is obvious and staff only had good things to say about the culture there
Very helpful, got a good overview of the different parts of the bank I had applied to see
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses, just kept receipts
There were slots built into the week for networking during the week although there was a bit of a lack of people with which to network with other than the other inturns
Good, drinks and nibbles were provided and the sessions were around an hour and a half
Yes- we were told about CSR activities although no specific examples were provided and found out about a sustainability group from an employee after a bit of probing
Yes, really nice insight into the bank and the different sections, well organised, varied activities
