About You
Thoroughly enjoyed it! Great networking opportunities, and allowed us to get to know what type of jobs are available in the sector.
The networking opportunities were great, and allowed us to as questions to anyone we came across. The accommodation and meal allowance provided was also very generous, and we were highly values as we were told we're the future of the bank.
Work shadowing was very useful in showing the type of things that we can expect in a job at RBS, but could have a choice as to where we would like to go in each sector, for example Finance has many different roles when we only got to know about one.
Being assessed with the essay email, group work and presentation was very useful in getting to know what a graduate assessment centre would be like which was good for building communication skills and team work. Also coming across with so many RBS employees, graduates and people who were also on the intern programme highly prepares us for the future.
The Company
The week was highly packed with different things to be doing which was very enjoyable. But I would suggest having 3 hours of presentations on the Monday was too much, and could have been spread out across the week, especially after a big lunch.
Such a friendly atmosphere throughout all employees! The people working there are so local and really makes you enjoy your time more. They were open to any questions that we have and were very encouraging for meeting your potential
By providing the assessments it was very useful to get to know what to expect in a graduate internship, and great experience with shadowing to know about a graduate role and experience worker does.
Very useful to ask questions about shadowing, but as the internship was for a short period of time it's hard to see a variety of sectors that you're interested in. Perhaps it would be better to have 2 hours rather than 3 in each shadowing to see more sectors, such as different Risk or Finance sectors because the roles have so much variety, and at times 3 hours is a bit too much as we were sometimes told the same thing.
The whole company emphasised on customer satisfaction in making the customer happy, which really related to employees as they all had a welcoming atmosphere and good culture.
Highly valuable, but again as this was a short 5 days with so much to show, it was hard to get a lot of information that you were specifically interested in
Everything Else
Accommodation was provided in a hotel, and £5 breakfast and £15 evening meal allowance was very generous and made you feel valued.
Many opportunities to meet a variety of people in different sectors whether they were people you we shadowing, graduates, people who were giving talks etc.
Very useful as they were open to giving them your email and interested to know more about you and giving advice
There was good company culture so everyone was very friendly, but wasn't told much about this
Would highly recommend this to anyone, and would tell them to make the most of every opportunity
