About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at BAML. I entered the insight week wanting to be in the Tech division with Investment Banking as a second choice. However, through the two divisional days I realised I enjoyed Investment Banking (through detailed presentations and a case study) and hence ended up choosing IBD at the end of the week (it's great that BAML allows you to restate a divisional preference at the end of the week!).
We were taken care of very well throughout the week, and below are some of the things that were done for us: 1. Great, informative presentations from junior panels to senior panels and the President of EMEA himself 2. Constant care from the recruitment team who showed us around the office, made sure we got where we needed to be on time etc. 3. All staff spent time and effort in answering questions and happily provided us with emails for further questions 4. Great food and a networking breakfast and dinner!
We were dropped off to where we needed to be at every part of the day. Work shadowing was really fun as staff answered all my questions about the Tech division in investment banking etc.
I do Engineering, so for the next 3 years, what I learned at BAML won't directly help me. However, there are transferrable skills such as analytical skills that I gained and also an insight into investment banking which has sparked an interest and a basic understanding to let me go on and learn more by myself.
The Company
Everything was well organised and the insight week ran smoothly.
All staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating.
It truly felt that they wanted to help us out as much as possible, teach us about what they do and recruit us in the future. A lot of time was invested in us throughout the week.
We got detailed answers from a large number of staff on how it is to work for BAML and the reviews were great!
The corporate culture of BAML was advertised and highlighted multiple times during the week.
I ended up completely changing my division due to the detailed insight I received.
Everything Else
Reimbursed for train ticket and week travel card.
There were numerous networking opportunities everyday: 1. Welcome drinks on first day with lots of staff from different divisions 2. GCIB roundtable with staff from M&A, ECM, DCM etc. 3. Tech division roundtable with staff from Global Markets & Technology Infrastructure 4. Networking dinner with staff from all major divisions on each table 5. Networking breakfast 6. Daily breakfasts and lunches
At the networking breakfast we were told about various societies that we can be a part of while working at BAML.
