About You
My insight week was really enjoyable; all the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, and tried to make the most of my week by showing me a diverse range of properties and tasks.
I was given feedback and thanked for work which I completed for members of the team, which was encouraging.
There was always someone there that I could ask questions to, and my mentor was extremely helpful.
The week was very useful for gaining an insight into a domain which I knew little about, and therefore will be useful in determining my future career path.
The Company
The week was good in that it wasn't too structured; I worked with people on what they had to do that day, which was often quite spontaneous, and I enjoyed that.
Staff were very friendly and it was an enjoyable atmosphere to be in.
Many members of staff were exceptionally busy with a heavy workload the week that I was there, but they still managed to show me how to do all the tasks and explain to me how and why certain things are done.
It was really useful to see 'a day in the life' of this company, and I think it would have been impossible to understand the job without seeing it first hand.
Several members of the team explained to me the company's culture, ethics and out of work activities. I also gained an understanding of their culture from observing the way in which they communicated and worked together.
It is still early for me to decide, but this week has sparked me to apply for future placements with this company.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for some of my expenses- it was an expensive week for me as I was not from the area.
We had plenty of networking events, including after work drinks on a few nights and a lunch with the directors.
Really good to chat to staff outside of the work environment, and to get to know people better.
Yes- sports events and ski trips for example.
Definitely- gave invaluable knowledge about that sector and company that could not be otherwise gained.
