The Role
It was thoroughly enjoyable! A stimulating and exciting environment to be working in.
Everyone was very welcoming and made sure to answer my questions and show me how things are done.
Busy doing preparatory administrative tasks, but this was well balanced with time to watch proceedings in the studios. They also ensured I took a good lunch hour off.
I think I was given the right amount of responsibility for this length of placement. I was responsible for small tasks but wasn't in any way 'running the show', but I was happy with this as I would have needed more time to learn in order to take on more responsibility.
Very useful training for a possible future career in broadcasting.
The Company
Lots of friendly chat continually going on.
Very well organised: they made sure I knew exactly where I was going and at what times and suggested transport links to get to work. Day to day activities were left slightly flexible, which was nice - I could have input into what I wanted to do.
The first day was dedicated to making sure I was trained to work in this specific environment.
Within the organisation as a whole my future prospects may be good, but department I was working in seemed unlikely to recruit.
The Culture
I got on well with the other placement student there and we spent some lunches together, but nothing was organised for us and I wouldn't have expected it to have been.
Very pricey. I managed to keep costs down by cooking for myself but it was still an expensive placement, particularly as no expenses were covered by the company.
Great, but I was too tired to go out much!
