About You
Meeting the other participants and members of the firm was by far the most enjoyable aspect of the programme. It was extremely useful hearing about the different definitions and an invaluable insight, although sometimes listening to a few hours of presentations in a row without a break was quite difficult. I felt like the week could have been better balanced between presentations and other activities as some days we had mainly presentations and others were mainly networking and team based interactive activities.
I felt valued to the extent that no one seemed to busy to answer a question and was impressed with the ratio of participants to members of the firm at networking events.
We had to complete a challenging case study and unfortunately our mentor was rarely present compared to other groups.
Presentations skills were definitely developed, as well as invaluable networking skills.
The Company
The programme was very structured with activities planned out for about ten hours of the day.
Very exciting, if a little competitive at times due to the fast track opportunity at the end of the week.
We were provided with mentors who assisted us in developing our presentation skills. We were given a plethora of opportunities to network and speak with members of the firm.
The case study proved useful in this respect, but without being able to fully shadow a worker it was difficult to get a complete idea of what working in the firm would be like.
Speaking to representatives from the firm definitely helped me have an idea of what the company culture is like.
The content of the week didn't dramatically changed my career ideas, but definitely gave me much more information on which to base my decision!
Everything Else
We were reimbursed.
There were multiple opportunities each day to network.
The networking events were fantastic, although it would have been good to be able to hear slightly more from other areas of the firm, despite being on the IB and Risk programme.
We heard a lot about the graduate training programme in New York, but not much about any other aspect.
Definitely.
