About You
I really enjoyed the RBS Spring Week. Gaining both insights into the Private and Commercial sectors of the business has really helped me to understand which divisions I think I'm most suited to and will enjoy.
RBS really invested in us as interns, organising brilliant shadowing sessions and allowing us to speak and network with senior individuals within the business.
We had 4 half days of shadowing within the week with RBS, and all of the graduates which we shadowed were very informative and supportive. HR was also helpful during our induction days and days in which we had assessments, with the prospect of if successful gaining a place on their Summer internship for 2016.
Learning more about both the Private and Commercial sectors of the business has really helped me to understand which areas I would be interested in pursuing a career in. We also had a banking simulation training session, which has really helped my understanding of how a bank works - this will be helpful with my degree (Economics).
The Company
The insight was well structured. Our first day contained introductory talks and networking in the evening, Tuesday and Thursday were shadowing days, and Wednesday and Friday assessments/training. We were given booklets at the start of the week which had detailed timetables in also.
The general atmosphere was really relaxed during the spring week. This made the week far more enjoyable and allowed us to create friendships with the fellow interns. All the RBS colleagues that we shadowed/spoke to were always really friendly and helpful - keen to answer any questions to their best ability.
We had both presentation training and a banking simulation training. Both of these were really informative and helpful.
By shadowing 4 different RBS graduates within different sectors, we were able to gain an insight of their day to day work and overall graduate scheme at RBS.
The company culture was really good - by networking with RBS colleagues, as well as having a lunch session with the different extra curricular organisations within RBS we were able to understand what this consists of.
Really valuable - I now understand which parts of both the Private and Commercial banking sectors that I would like to look more into, and maybe even pursue a career in.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed all my expenses, and provided with accommodation for the week as I live outside of London.
Yes - there were lots of opportunities for networking, and on every day of the spring week. In addition to drinks in the evenings on Monday and Friday and shadowing, we also had lunch sessions and talks from other RBS employees .
The networking and social opportunities were great to meet other people from the firm and learn more about the sectors in which they work. I also met and will keep in touch with many interns that I met over the week.
Yes - we had a lunch session with the different organisations within the business which we could join if we were to work for RBS.
Definitely - it was a very informative and enjoyable week.
