About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the day at Baker & McKenzie. The talks and activities were wide-ranging and very informative, and I found the trainee and application sessions particularly useful.
I felt extremely welcome throughout the day and everyone was more than willing to answer the questions I had about working at the firm and they also provided helpful advice during the various activities we undertook.
We were assigned a trainee for each of the exercises who stayed with the group to answer any questions or to give us any advice. Following the exercises they also gave us very thorough feedback about what we did well and what we could improve, which I found very useful.
As a result of the Open Day I feel much more knowledgable about the firm, which will help me in future applications. The case study exercises provided an invaluable insight into what to expect at an assessment centre and also how to do well, having never been to one before.
The Company
We were given a booklet when we arrived, which included a plan of the day. The day was very well organised and everything ran to schedule.
Welcoming and friendly yet still professional.
They answered all the questions I had about applications and the firm and the feedback the trainees gave both during and after the exercises was invaluable.
To a great extent, as throughout the day we met a wide range of people, such as partners who had been working at the firm for a very long time and trainees who had only recently started.
The day provided a great insight, as we met many employees and we were also given an office tour.
Very useful, as many of the exercises, such as the negotiation exercise, gave a great insight into the work we might undertake, and the trainees also responded well to any queries I had about this particular career path.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses.
There were numerous opportunities throughout the day, such as during the trainee session and also during lunch.
They were good, as we had the opportunity to meet a range of employees.
Yes, particularly the sports and pro bono opportunities.
I would definitely recommend this day to anyone thinking of pursuing a career in law.
