    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was extremely informative in finding out the role they played as a regulator since they are not an organisation many people are aware of. It was also great to learn about how their role has evolved from its predecessor FSA. I got to learn about the vast amount of roles and departments also and had very insightful talks from key senior members of staff.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I definitely felt valued by the senior speakers who came to talk to us, they were all very willing to interact with us and even give us their contact details should we have any queries at a later stage. Even whilst networking with the employees at lunch and to the presentation we had to give it was very apparent that they wanted to hear our views on what we felt the firm could do more to be accessible to the wider community it served and that definitely made one feel valuable.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was always a member of staff there on hand for any queries or issues we had whilst we were there, we also had their contact details.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My skills developed through the presentation skills workshop learning about the different ways to make presentations more interactive, what components to cover when planning a presentation, actually planning a 10 minute presentation with a group of people in 3 days all of which can help when planning for future presentations during my studies.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very structured We had an agenda for everyday and it was well stuck to.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Very warm and friendly. Despite the fact I didn't know anyone there I found it easy to be comfortable and make friends they also encouraged this by making us sit with a different group of people daily.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Preparing us for presentations Informing us of the summer internship and graduate schemes and their structures and what they look for in a future employee I felt like if I applied, I'd be confident that I can get in because of the guidance and insight provided

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We were there within the normal working hours of the business and we also had opportunities to shadow different graduates and get more of a first hand glimpse at the work they did

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Alot. I really learnt how important morality was for them and all the staff that spoke to us all seemed to share that same ethos. I came to know about their flexible culture allowing people to work in the office, work from home and even jobshare which was important for me as a female as I knew in the future I would require such adjustments

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Quite valuable as it allowed me to consider an area that I may not have considered otherwise if I had not completed the insight week

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed for my travel, lunch was provided

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes we had lunch and learns, shadowing, members of staff gave us their contact details so we could continue relations

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Good People were very open and transparent, answered all the questions we had

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, I learnt how important community engagement was to them and how every employee had to do 26 hours of community work in any area doing absolutely anything They also have very strong employee network groups such as inside out

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, it teaches you that regulation is an area that many people can get into even though many don't consider it There are a vast amount of roles available from policy to supervision to enforcement You even have the opportunity to work within all the areas if you like as it's something that is encouraged. You can even go on external secondments and gain more knowledge from another firm and bring it back to the FCA. Not only does it benefit your personal development but also betters the firm too I've already told my sister to look into it
