About You
The insight was a very enriching experience; everyone on the team was really helpful and welcoming and made sure I was given constructive and interesting tasks.
From day 1, the team relied on me to a great extent and made me feel that my contribution was valuable and treasured by everyone around.
I was assigned a mentor who did a brilliant job of showing me the ropes; the other members of the team were also very helpful and ready to go out of their way to help me carry out my tasks.
I learned a lot about the practical side of Land economy and received in-depth information about the property industry and the ways in which capital allowances form part of it.
The Company
The insight had a pretty flexible structure which allowed me to naturally progress in exploring the different areas of the business.
The general atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly; while everyone worked hard, there was no pressure or performance anxiety and expectations never exceeded what was reasonable.
All the members of my team took time to explain to me what they were doing and tried to involve me in their projects to a great extent. I am very happy with the committment of the company to educating trainees.
The insight gave me a first impression of what a job in the property industry might look like; however, since the insight lasted only a week, I am sure I was not fully exposed to every aspect of the work involved.
The insight showed me a very friendly and positive culture which nonetheless keeps things professional. I am satisfied with my exposure to the company culture.
The content of the day showed me the workload a graduate employee would normally have and gave me a good idea of the tools involved in the work process.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed 100 for the whole experience; however, as I was commuting everyday, this was not enough to cover all my expenses.
There were ample opportunities for networking; my team had drinks, and the office space is structured in a way that allows employees to easily meet others.
The social events were very relaxed and entertaining, with ample opportunities to network and socialise.
Yes, emails were circulated about activities for employees, and I got an idea of what those activities might look like.
I would absolutely recommend this insight to my friends on my course; it is an invaluable way for an aspiring surveyor to learn more about what the property world has to offer.
