About You
The experience at J.P. Morgan was both educational and insightful. With Operations being such a broad and complex area experiencing it from the inside was helpful for demystifying.
It is difficult to answer this question due to nature of an insight week. In spite of this, those recruiting made a conscious effort to feel an inclusive part of the company.
Every point of contact was helpful and willing to offer more information if any follow up questions were necessary. In particular, Clare (the person who arranged the week) really put the extra effort in.
Again, the nature of the week makes this a difficult question to answer. It is certainly true that understanding of both the recruitment process and the workings of the company grew. With this said, relevance to the degree and directly applicable working skills were limited.
The Company
It is difficult to pick a flaw in the structure of the week, with days filled up all timings near seamless.
Although there were tedious aspects of the week, the recruitment team combined with the fellow interns made it a very memorable experience.
The time limitations of the week meant direct training was difficult to implement. It was noticable how much time was spent on the week, with many senior members of the company present for various activities.
The week successfully demystified the working of Operations within the company. It certainly led me to gain a greater understanding of the inner working.
The companies ethos was mentioned on various occasions. This was combined with the general feel of the offices which was explanatory in itself.
The content on the days was highly varied depending on the task. Some presentations were too technicial and evidently aimed at the wrong audience. This was counterbalanced by other highly insightful activities, particularly noteworthy was the shadowing.
Everything Else
Travel and hotel costs were covered if necessary.
Two of the four evenings were spent networking. This allowed the opportunity to meet graduates and also to improve networking skills.
The first networking event was fairly limited, however, the second was thoroughly enjoyable.
Although the local area was discussed, time spent talking about the activities within J.P were limited.
I feel as though this would be a highly enjoyable and helpful experience for any undergraduate seeking to gain knowledge in finance.
