The Role
Great internship. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in IBM. I learned a lot and engaged in some thought-provoking work which I am proud to be part of.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. They were always there to help me and they were very friendly. I got to know them really well and I made some good friends.
I was given a lot of support and guidance by my colleagues, and in particular, my manager. He was with me every step of the way and really wanted me to succeed. From the feedback I got from him, I think I done a good job.
I was quite busy to begin with but then the work balance evened out and it was actually quite enjoyable. I enjoyed coming in to work everyday and did not feel overwhelmed.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility, being in charge of my own projects, for example. I could still ask my manager and my other colleagues for help when I needed it but I was calling the shots on the project for the most part.
The skills I developed during this internship were really useful. I will definitely use it in the rest of my university life, and I will no doubt use these skills later in life as well!
The Company
The office was a great place to work and I looked forward to coming in every morning. The people that were sitting around me were all really friendly and easy to chat to. It was better than what I had in mind, which was good.
The internship was set up very well I thought. There was a short induction at the start that all the interns had to do, and after that we got frequent communication via email about any events and other things happening. It was well organised.
I learned a lot from the internship and I think this was partly due to the training that IBM gives the interns. It was great to learn from top class materials and people and I benefited a lot from this.

Talking to my manager at the end of the internship, I think I have a high chance of getting on the graduate scheme. I hope to reapply since I enjoyed my time here and it was a really great place to work.
The Culture
Pretty good social scene I would say. After the induction at the start, everyone got to know everyone really well and we had a good time and enjoyed each other's company. It's always nice to have someone in the same position that you can talk to.
The cost of living was quite high since it was based in London. I learned how to manage my money better though, and since I was living with another intern, we managed our finances well I thought.
The nightlife was great. A lot of things to do and see around London and whenever we went out it was always great fun. A lot of variety as well.
There were quite a few networking opportunities outside of work and I managed to build quite a good network up from these events. I went out with the interns on occasions as well and this was good to get to know them better.
