About You
I enjoyed the insight to a great extent. This is because of how much I have learnt about Goldman Sachs, its Investment management more specifically and my own preferences in terms of what I want to do next.
I felt very valued. Everyone I met was very helpful and willing to sit down and explain things or chat about what their job was about. I especially valued the buddy system as I established a very good relation with my buddy and he supported me throughout the two weeks.
I believe the most guidance and support came from my buddy who was always available to answer my questions and clear my doubts but my team as a whole was very present and well-prepared.
I definitely got a clearer idea of what I want to do when I graduate and I learned aspects of asset management and private wealth management that will definitely help me in making better informed decisions in the future. I also had some good interview practice which I am sure will prove useful.
The Company
I personally felt that the insight was structured in a very good way to take advantage of such a small period of time. I found that there was a good balance between working at my project, listening to presentations and attending networking events.
The atmosphere was one of the highlights of my experience. I got a strong feel of how hardworking and collaborative, while not shying away from showing individual brilliance, all the employees I met were.
It was quite clear that the company was investing in me in terms of money and availability of its current employees.
It was very helpful as I was working at a desk, working at a real project, while listening and observing full-time employees through their daily jobs.
It was very helpful in understanding the company culture of hard work, perfectionism in service and team work.
It certainly made it clearer to me what investment management is about and it helped me evaluate my suitability for working in it.
Everything Else
Payment and reimbursement were dealt with very professionally.
Yes, networking lunches and dinners were organised and current employees were very available to meet for coffee catch-ups.
The events were useful, giving interns the opportunity to meet both fellow interns and current employees.
Yes, some charitable organisations founded by the company were presented to us on the last day.
I definitely would because it is a good way to understand more about Goldman Sachs and its specific divisions, while, even more crucially, being able to judge your own suitability for them.
