The Role
I HAVE REALLY ENJOYED MY PLACEMENT AND MY MENTORS HAVE BEEN FANTASTIC ALLOWING ME TO FOLLOW THE PATIENT JOURNEY AND VARIOUS OTHER EXPIERIENCES.
WAS TREATED LIKE A MENBER OF STAFF RATHER THAN A STUDENT, ALL STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.
MANAGEMENT SUPPORT FANTASTIC PARTICULLARY BY ONE OF THE WARD SISTERS KAREN EDGAR AS SHE TOOK TIME TO TALK TO ME AND SEE HOW I WAS GETTING ON, IF EVERYTHING WAS OK, IF THERE WAS ANYTHING I WANTED TO DO ON PLACEMENT TO FURTHER MY DEVELOPMENT.
I WAS KEPT BUSY FOR THE WHOLE 8 HOUR SHIFT PREPARING ME WELL FOR THE WORL DOF NURSING WHEN I QUALIFY FULLY IN 3 YEARS TIME.
JUST ENOUGH SO THAT I COULD LEARN AND ALSO USE MY OWN INNITIATIVE.
COULD NOT HAVE HELPED ME MORE, I NOW KNOW HOW THE CLINICAL ENVIRONMENT WORKS THROUGH FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE RATHER THAN LEARNING THROUGH LECTURES. THE 50/50 BALANCE OF PLACEMENT AND UNIVERSITY I FEEL IS EXTREMLY BENEFICIAL AND WILL EQUIP ME WELL IN MY FUTURE CAREER.
The Company
GOOD ATMOSHPERE ALTHOUGH SHORT STAFFED AND FULL WARD OF PATIENTS.
THE SHIFTS FOR ME WERE WELL ORGANISED BUT DIDNT GET TO WORK WITH MY MENTOR AS MUCH AS I WOULD HAVE LIKED MOSTLY DUE TO STAFFING LEVELS.
THEY INVESTED THERE TIME IN ME AND WERE PRO ACTIVE IN LETTING ME WATCH PROCEDURES THAT I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE IN OTHER HOSPITALS AS THEY WERE SPECID=FIC TO HEART AND CHEST SURGERY.
I WOULD LOVE TO WORK WITH THE HOSPITAL ONCE QUALIFIED AS A STAFF NURSE AND I AM WAITING TO SEE IF I HAVE BEEN SUCCESFUL FOR A HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT POST ON THE BANK STAFF FOR THE HOSPITAL.
The Culture
SOCIALY THE STUDENTS AND COLLEGUES WERE FANTASTIC AND WE WERE ALL INVITED TO THE CHRISTMAS PARTY.
PARKING ON A LATE WAS EXPENSIVE AT £5.50 A TIME
LIVERPOOL NIGHT LIFE IS THE BEST I HAVE EXPERIENCED.
THERE WAS INVITATION TO CHRISTMAS PARTY WHICH WAS LOVLEY BUT OTHER THAN THIS NO SOCIAL EVENTS WERE PLANNED OUT FOR STAFF OR STUDENTS.
