    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year as it gave me great insight into how a large organization works. I was given a lot of responsibility in my role and given real projects to look after and execute from start to end. The work varies from day to day which is great as it meant I never got bored with what I was doing. This also enabled me to grow and develop a variety of skills which will help me in my long term career.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very! Interns are treated as valued members of the team and my department in particular welcomed me from day one.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given as much support as I wanted. If I ever needed guidance or help with work or other problems, my team and other employees were always happy to help. If I couldn't get the help I needed, then I would be pointed in the direction of someone who could help me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As interns are treated as full time employees this meant that I had work to do everyday. At times some days would be busier than others however if I needed more work then I would ask and others were happy to give me some.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You are given lots of responsibility and expected to make decisions on your own. At the beginning of the placement you receive more guidance but as you grow confident in your role then you are expected to take the lead.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have learnt will be a great asset for my degree and future career. I have learnt how to build and maintain strong professional relationships, project management and negotiations among my colleagues, to name but a few. I have also developed my marketing skills and knowledge which will be invaluable for my degree when I return back to Uni.

  • Great fun! All employees take their work seriously but know how to have a fun time in the office too.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very good. There is a great intern community so there are lots of activities happening all the time. HR also helped to settle all the interns in and maintain their presence throughout.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There is a lot of training available if you need it through weekly calls, HP University and training days. If you ever needed extra help then personal training can also be set up for you. Each intern is also provided with a mentor which helps you achieve goals and help with personal development.
