The Role
I have really enjoyed my work placement with IBM - I was lucky enough to try out three different roles whilst working there. There are loads of opportunities to get out of the office and help out in the community, network with other people in the company and learn about yourself through training.
All of my colleagues have been great - they really value my work and are all so helpful!!
My managers have helped me a lot, they are always there to give advice and will help with any problems I have.
Some days I was busy, other days I had hardly any work to do. Towards the end of my placement I had lots of extra work to do which was a really great thing!
I was given set tasks to manage and be responsible for. I also found that the managers really trust you to manage your own work and work without their supervision which was great.
I think that the skills I have developed whilst on placement have been more valuable than anything I have learnt whilst studying my degree. I also feel that my organisation and prioritisation skills will help me during my final year at university.
The Company
The office atmosphere wasn't great in my base location as it was very quiet but the atmosphere in the main office in Southbank was great!!!
The placement objectives and assessment was made very clear.
There were a lot of planned training sessions for us to attend - I feel that I was able to develop my skills through this.
