The Role
Company was very friendly and great way of meeting other students from different universities and backgrounds.
Colleagues where open to any questions or issues I had. Not only did I have an assigned day-to-day task manager but also a PDM (Professional Development Manager) who helped set my goals and reach my goals for the year...great way of making the most of of my year at IBM.
Support was fantastic!
There were days that I was super busy, others I was quite quiet but IBM offer volunteering and giveback which gets you involved in activities outside your role. Also plenty of educations to get involved in.
Within the first couple of weeks I was focus point for my team on important projects!
Developed many essential and important skills which will help me during my final year at University and when I start searching for graduate jobs.
The Company
There were days where the office was buzzing but other times it was dull (especially a Friday as many people now take the option of working from home). Although it all depends where you are based as some of the London locations are always buzzing!
Foundation community kept the placement year well organised and created events which helped bring all students together to interact. Definitely cannot fault this scheme.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
This year has definitely encouraged me to apply back as a graduate.
The Culture
Yes plenty of social gatherings and events to get involved in during the week and the weekends.
Living costs are slightly higher than what I pay at home but I never was stuck for cash thankfully! Great social life in the area and at the weekends the area is always buzzing especially in the good weather which is quite often.
Good nightlife!
Yes lot of volunteering opportunities during working hours and at weekends. You are encouraged to get involved in them as much as you can by your task manager and PDM.
