The Role
I was given real responsibilities and was able to see the impact of my work. Furthermore, I was not held as an intern and felt like a full time employee.
I have received feedback from my supervisors every 3 - 4 months showing what has been done well and what needs to be improved. It was great that they have invested time in my professional growth in many different aspects. For example, take me to meet clients, explain the difficulties of sales etc..
During the placement scheme I had two managers. My PDM - Professional Development Manager and my Task Manager. Anytime I need support or guidance I was always able to contact my supervisors and I always did get support that was needed.
My task manager has managed to give me perfect work load. I had just the right amount of work, keeping myself busy throughout the day and also having spare time for exploring IBM, shadowing, getting involved in various projects.
Tasks that I did during my placement were reported straight up the line, therefore I could see how important the work was. I was also given possibility to shadow executive meetings in which my work was presented by my supervisors.
The experience I have received throughout this year will help me throughout the last year in university and beyond. As I know take my tasks in a lot more serious way, have better discipline and attention to details. And that is the key to success.
The Company
Working in 10 people team was a great experience. I have got to closely know all of the team members. I would help them when it is needed and they would help me whenever I would require help.. Finally, team socials were great as we had a lot of fun going out!
The placement was organised in a very professional way 10/10. Everything was planned perfectly, for example the 2 day induction, first days in the office etc..
I have received professional/career guidance from my professional development manager on monthly basis. Furthermore, the company would pay for me to go to recruitment/educational events around the UK.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
This was the first step towards graduate scheme that I will be applying for. I believe it will help me greatly to get back into IBM, as I have already got huge network here, and understand how this company works.
The Culture
Definitely yes, every Thursday we had socials and would meet and explore London during the weekends.
As I was based in London living costs were quite high, however, the compensation was enough.
London nightlife was one of the best experiences for me.
There are many activities that you can get involved after work. Also, if no one is organizing your desired activity, you are more than welcome to create this activity and post it to the community page so people could join you!
