The Role
It was very enjoyable, I learned a lot and had good times outside of work with other interns.
I felt like my work was making a difference to my department and the wider IBM. I was trusted with business critical tasks on a weekly basis.
Having a business manager, a personal development manager and also graduate mentors helps you settle in to the business quite easily as you have many people in different areas to ask for advise. In terms of specialist issues or questions, there is a knowledge sharing culture at IBM and I have never felt uncomfortable asking any IBMer for help with an issue or a question even if I haven't met them before.
As with almost every business, my department has fluctuations in terms of workload, some days in December I might not have much to do and some days in summer might be very busy. Yet overall there was a great balance in workload and when you have days which move a little slower you can log on to IBM's online education area and expand your knowledge.
Many interns including myself were given a lot of responsibility but this responsibility was handed over slowly and wasn't too overwhelming.
Having such a great company on my C.V will help to improve my employability and make me more competitive in the job market once I have finished University
The Company
All the staff were friendly and I was able to call different IBM sites across the UK my office, as I was able to travel a lot. Different IBM sites have their own distinct atmosphere, my favorite was Southbank due to its modern, glass, open-plan style.
Extremely organised with inductions, catch up calls, events for interns.
Education events were numerous, educational conference calls were a weekly occurrence. Training on the job was extensive and in depth which allows the level of responsibility IBM bestows upon their interns.

The IBM graduate scheme is very appealing with world class training and a competitive salary.
The Culture

Quite high but my salary easily covered my needs.
There was a lot going on every weekend.
There are many opportunities to do activities outside of work, such as community developent projects with other IBMers.
