The Role
I had a very enjoyable year at IBM. Gained many skills in various different areas, and also found a role I am now looking to apply back to a graduate role.
I felt valued most of the time and given feedback regularly.
I was supported throughout my placement by managers and my team leader.
Sometimes I would have too much work and other times too little but majority of time i would be busy throughout the day.
On certain jobs I would be given full responsibility and control over what I did. Other times I would work a part of a team which I would have a say but not overall control.
My role was quite varied and I discovered a different role I would now like to pursue rather than my actually degree. However, I do feel I experienced enough to help me in my final year in uni.
The Company
For the most part it was relaxed and I was able to be part of the team on a personal level. Like any office, however, at times if there was a problem with a staff member the atmosphere could change.
The structure was good. I was given a list of roles at the start and advice on a weekly or daily basis if there was any changes etc.
Excellent overall. I feel i was trained to a high standard.

The Culture
It depends on you as an individual. There is a good social life with fellow foundation employees (interns/grads) as there are an awful lot of them.
Depends on how you want to live. I lived alone so it was a little more expensive for me but most people I know lived in shared housing so was much cheaper.
You make it what it is. There are enough places around Hursley such as Winchester and Southampton which are good for a night out. Pubs are certainly not in short supply in the area too.
Yes. There are always things to get involved in socially.
