The Role
Whilst the work isn't exactly putting through great bid proposals, once you understand that you are an intern and they employ you for that purpose it is more than easy to find technically demanding work and stay busy.
My managers have 5 interns every year replacing the same job roles so we are valued almost as permanent employees.
At IBM there is a dual-manager system with one manager solely responsible for your development/well being.
This can vary throughout the year and depending on the individual but I personally was able to keep busy most of the time.
There were a couple of other things I felt I could've taken on but I had a naturally cautious manager, otherwise was impressed by how important the responsibilities I was given were.
Certainly useful post uni in building experiences/skills such as teamwork and VBA. Employability through the roof.
The Company
Good fun 99% of the time, even if one or two of the team-mates had a few annoying habits.
Very much luck of the draw. For me it was excellent, for others the system broke down and they had very little to do/overly demanding managers.
Tried to support development where possible but slightly tedious expense restraints made this difficult at times.

Plan to return next summer for an 8 week placement. Doubt I'd go back as a grad but that's to do with my future career aspirations rather than the company.
