The Role
I've enjoyed my role so much because I've made it what I want it to be - rather than sitting back and doing only the roles given to me.
You're an important part of the team, doing business critical work.
My manager was based away, however regularly permitted travel to meet up and regularly kept in contact via email/phone.
Depending on the day it varied, however generally busy.
IBM is clear that they treat you as a normal employee, and after my placement year I can say this is true - you are given a lot of responsibility.
In terms of studies it has given me a better work ethic and accuracy level. In terms of beyond it is a great name to have on your CV and the graduate investment at IBM is immense.
The Company
It is a very busy office, with 100 other placement students there.
There is a whole department assigned to the scheme - so very organised.
IBM invests heavily - if you seek it out. I got a few multi-day training courses and plenty of travel.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Very appealing - the company invests heavily in their youth.
The Culture
With 100 placement students in Southbank alone it is second to none in terms of the social scene.
In London it is very expensive, however you receive a London weighting to offset that.
London nightlife is brilliant - always something on.
Regular opportunities.
