The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my work placement developing multiple skills and developing as a person. Would recommend the experience to anyone who wants to pursue a career in business.
I felt very valued, I was a key member of the team and people relied on me for stuff which only i knew how to do which gave me a great feeling of empowerment.
Manager was always available when necessary and always understood the point you were trying to make. Very supportive in any circumstance both work and personal related.
As my role was client facing this varied from day to day but I always had something to do/be getting on with. If i felt like my work load was to low I would just speak up and get involved with something new.
I was giving alot of responsibility. This ranged from releasing contracts, to approving solution documents to managing POs and supplier invoices I felt like the balance of responsibility was perfect.
100% developed my employability skills and developed as a person, I believe this will aid me in my final year in university as I will have a better understanding of what I am writing about. I feel these skills will also help me beyond university throughout my life.
The Company
Generally dull although when sitting with the other interns there were some amusing times/discussions which took place. I believe this experience differs from location to location within IBM.
I would say it is very well organized and you always know where you are and what is going on next.
Apart from generic training and opportunities, personal investment was almost no existent, however I feel the whole experience is quite a big investment in you and you are always learning.

I would like to work for the company in future, however the process to get back in is very tough and I feel like the fact you have to compete to get back in is quite demoralizing.
The Culture
I lived with four of the students, however due to the locationg we were based within the social life was very dull if not non existent.
We lived in surrey therefore it wasn't very cheap, time I had paid rent, bills and to run my car I had little left to socialise
AWFUL - NON EXISTANT
I was not made aware of any opportunities outside of work.
