The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my placement year. Incredible intern community, fulfilling job role, supportive management. Couldn't have asked for anything more really.
Extremely valued. Job role had real responsibility - team couldn't function without it.
Constant guidance and support from management. HP's 'open door policy' means that advice and help from any level of management is always available.
On the whole fairly balance, although some days Id be in very late and others not particularly busy. This comes naturally with the job role however, so not an issue. For example, the last month of the financial quarter is extremely busy within sales teams who have the pressure of closing deals, but the first week of a new quarter may not be very busy at all.
Huge amount of responsibility, team could not function without the role. As the placement progressed, more opportunities arose, and even lead to direct selling to customers - accountability and responsibility!
The skills and training I have received will be invaluable in any job role I have in future. The organizational and planning skills I have learnt will be invaluable during my final year of stud too.
The Company
General atmosphere of office was extremely positive and vibrant. No one at HP's Bracknell site (3000+ people) has a set office, meaning a very open plan and welcoming office.
The job role has been extremely organized and fulfilling. This was organized by my specific business unit. Given the huge amount of interns working at HP (approximately 70), there were a few issues with start up from HR. Overall very well organized,
Constant opportunities to join training and work directly with my sales team in closing deals - huge investment in interns.

The Culture
Great social scene - 70+ interns living in the same area!
Cost of living irrelevant as I lived at home and didn't rent. Cost of socializing average.
Nothing spectacular but a lot to choose from and always people to go out with so didn't really make a difference.
Huge variety of activities outside work - massive focus on charity events.
