The Role
I really enjoyed my placement mostly because the projects you could partake are limitless.
Probably the best bit of my placement were my colleagues. They were treating me as part of the team from the very beginning and trusting me enough to give me responsible tasks even though I was still a student.
My manager was only always willing to hear my concerns and wishes but he was then immediately taking actions to find me an opportunity to gain the experience I was interested in.
The workload varied a lot, sometimes I would have the time to do educational courses for hours and sometimes I would be extremely busy due to deadlines.
I was given very responsible tasks such as presentations in front of many people, demos to clients and accounting tasks. If I were to make a mistake the consequences would've been significant.
I would say to great extend as now I know what I need to focus on in order to develop the skills I will need for my graduate job. Also, due to my placement I have already decided on my dissertation topic way in advance.
The Company
The atmosphere varies - I have worked in a very formal place as well as in a really informal, feeling-like-home atmosphere.
My internship was part of a very well organized programme specifically designed to track your professional development by regular reviews.
IBM organises a lot of training sessions, of which I was very pleasantly surprised.

Working from home
I would be really happy if I was offered a graduate job with IBM.
The Culture
Yeah, nights out and dinners were organised on a regular basis. Also, a lovely festive lunch was provided for Christmas.
I worked in London so very expensive but my salary was covering all my costs.
City centre of London is always a good place to be once working hours are over, especially Friday :)
Yes, many sport events and competitions were available.
