The Role
All of the staff were very firendly and all showed me parts of the job, not only my mentor. They always asked if i were ok and i foud them very supportive. I also enjoyed the role a lot more than i thought i would.
All of the staff were very firendly and all showed me parts of the job, not only my mentor. They always asked if i were ok and i foud them very supportive.
the sister on the ward was very supportive with shift patterns, she understood that i have another job outside of placement and would work i order to try and work my shifts around this. She was also very approachable and helped when i needed assistance.
i found i was always busy when on shift. I had enough time to work indeendently and also enough time to shadow my mentors. The staff also gave me enough breaks and would make sure i got these breaks even when the ward was busy
i was given a lot more responsabilty on the placement than i expected. I would do observations on the patients and the doctors would then ask my opinion and the conditions of the patients i was looking after.
i have been givent the opportunity to develop a lot of skills whole on this placement, esoecially my communication skills and basic nursing skills such as performing simple observations this will be needed throughout my training and future career. I have also been able to see a lot of the documentatio invoved in pateint care.
The Company
the staff were always very friendly and had a good reationship with patients. All students were made to feel welcome
the placement was good because i had a specific mentor but i was only given one days off suty at first and then a week at a time
i was able to ask any questions i wanted to ask and they also said they would let me know if any training came up that i was interested in. They also helped me with my university assignment by giving me a list of materials that would be useful
It will depend on the amount of jobs within the organisation when i complete my course jobs come up on a regular basis
The Culture
i got along with all of the students on my ward from other universites. I got along with the others and found out that they dont drive as i do i gave them lifts to and from placement
i cost me a lot in petrol and getting through th tunnel but there was free parking on sight that i used
i never went out in the area but liverpools night life is very good
i didnt try to get involved in any activities
