The Role
Interesting and challenging for most of the time but can also become repetitive and sometimes there is a limit on the work given to the students.
For the majority of the time i feel as though I am part of the team but at others it felt as though i was a hindrance to the team through my inexperience.
Support given at all times unless my Line Manager was off, in these situations there was no other support system in place.
On most days i had enough work to fill the day, some days I was very busy and others I was not given enough work (mostly the days when my LM was not present)
The level of responsibility increased as time went on especially after the fourth or fifth month where i was more knowledgeable and experienced in my role.
The ability to manage one or more projects will be invaluable as well as experience in working with people and teams.
The Company
Due to the recent restructure in our department, the general atmosphere was poor when i first began the role however this did improve. However it is still a quiet office and segregated severely by departments and specialities.
The company has lots of experience with placement students so they are prepared and fully knowledgeable about their role in the company.
Training was only really given in relation to my role in the business, and this is quite limited as it is not really needed for the role.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I would consider working for the company but any future job opportunities do not exist in the department in which i work.
The Culture
This is dependant on your location and the other students, the staff occasionally go out in their departments but many have young families.
Cheaper than it would have been in the south such as London, but as it is a city, prices are more expensive than in other parts of the north.
Good for students but again experiencing it is dependant on the other students unless you know people who live there.
None that i was aware of.
